How does the traditional Basque eatery transform without losing its soul as a home?
The ceiling filters the voice. The red shelters the home.
The Challenge
To design a bar-restaurant with traditional local roots and a radically contemporary staging: one where customers feel at home, with the warmth of a caserío, inside a sophisticated leisure space that is acoustically flawless and has a strong brand identity.
The Experience of Impact
We reinterpret the traditional eatery and the caserío through a material and chromatic deconstruction. The traditional pitched roofs become large red acoustic panels that dampen noise and shelter the tables.
The timber framing typical of Basque architecture is combined with exposed metal structures, in a balance between the rustic and the industrial. Red, the symbol of the hearth fire and of the checked tablecloths of our hospitality tradition, unifies the experience into a warm, vibrant destination full of textures.
What changes in the experience
Diners enjoy their meal in a vibrant, acoustically flawless setting that pays tribute to the caserío.

Can the industrial heritage of the past solve the loneliness of the future?
The factory makes way. Coliving heals loneliness.
The Challenge
Eibar faces a double challenge: the loss of its historic industrial activity, which leaves large urban voids, and the ageing and isolation of its population. How can the rehabilitation of a former factory socially and economically reactivate a city and open up new community opportunities?
The Experience of Impact
For the emblematic AIBE factory we propose three strategies of urban acupuncture: generating territorial movement by decentralising public facilities; breaking down the barrier between the urban and the natural with an extensive park of sports facilities and vegetable gardens that promote self-sufficiency; and, at the heart, intergenerational public housing (coliving) that eases the loneliness of older people.
The former productive space is transformed into an inhabited ecosystem where young and old share everyday life. The industrial shell is not only preserved: it fills with life again.
“We convert a former factory into an intergenerational coliving that fights loneliness by uniting young and old in a natural setting.”
How does the experience change?
We move from industrial abandonment to an ecosystem of mutual support that socially reactivates a city.
