EUSKADI BASQUE COUNTRY 2023

Location | Madrid (IFEMA)
Typology | Ephemeral Architecture / Institutional Stand

Area | 900 m²
Year | 2023
Status | Delivered

Assembly | Intermediate Group

How do you encapsulate the identity, climate, and flavor of a territory in a single setting?

The rain raises the curtain. The landscape is the stage.

The Challenge

The Basque Country is not just a destination, it's a sensory experience. The commission for FITUR required condensing our culture, geography, and gastronomy into a large exhibition space, going beyond a mere display of photographs and creating a walkable landmark that can be felt, smelled, and experienced like a real journey.

The Impact Experience

Inspired by theatrical set design, we designed a journey of discovery through overlapping layers. It all begins with water, the origin of our land: an immersive entrance where visitors experience rain, life, and the product.

The space then unfolds in a sequence of layers that evoke the Basque landscape: mountains, coasts, livestock, cities, fishing ports, and agriculture. The journey culminates in the semi-open kitchen, which connects all the functional areas and showcases our gastronomy.

How does the experience change?

The stand ceases to be contemplative and becomes a live, immersive, and theatrical experience.
